You can tell when two people are meant to be together for the rest of their lives. When they look at each other, their eyes are filled with nothing but sincere love and adoration for the other person. Respect and kindness for the other person is unwavering; they know how valuable the other person is to them, and work hard not to take them for granted. Their interactions are sweet and romantic, they trust each other, wholeheartedly, they laugh together and they hold each other tight. Best friends, lovers, and partners in this beautiful, crazy life. They’re a team with an unbreakable bond, and it’s obvious from the moment you see them.
It was such a privilege to shoot Ashley & Nathan’s engagement photos. Nathan is my boyfriend’s cousin — and from the first day I met Ashley, at our annual Thanksgiving shindig, it was obvious that these two are a perfect fit. Their love is so pure — and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have captured some of it on camera.
Their session was shot in the precious town of Anchorage, Kentucky, on a (very rare for this time of year) warm, cloudy day. We took our first shots in the city part of the area – we walked up a few stone steps to a courtyard outside of a restaurant/bar, and they had white lights in the trees and old romantic music playing. It was like a scene from of a movie – the two lovers started slow dancing, as if they were the only two people in the world who mattered.
Then they showed me the exact place where Nathan proposed, and reminisced about how it all happened. We walked through the beautiful park, taking more shots, as we talked about weddings and house-hunting (and stopped to talk to SO MANY cute puppies). I am so excited to be a part of this couple’s story and I can’t wait to capture their wedding day!
